I was going for a very simple look for this layout. I wanted something that looked serene, but not "flat". That's partly why this layout has two prominant colors, but the real reason for this was more about my experimenting with negatives and different patterns.
I didn't have much to work off of to make this layout. I really had to mostly draw the image of Mori, and improvise on the different colors and even the cherry blossom in his hand. I thought it would be lovely if this sort of unapproachable, intimidating looking guy was simply admiring the beauty of something as delicate as a cherry blossom. You can see the butterflies also play a role in this. I think they best represent the good heart we all know Mori has!
This layout was very difficult to code. Well, scratch that. It was hard to consider how to code it. I just stared at it for about an hour after making it, thinking how I would get this monster to work in different resolutions. It was originally supposed to be centered, but that was ultimately impossible. :'( But all in all I'm quite pleased with this layout. It's simple, yes, but I tend to prefer simplicity over clutter.
